Fire Department
SCVFD NEWS
The 2008 fire season is underway and the department
has responded to
multiple calls.  As was the case last
year, there have been a few fires close to town.  They
serve as a reminder that the community must be vigilant
and always aware of safety and prevention.

On other news, the department has finalized plans for
an
addition to the fire station.  Through a community
fund-raiser, the SCVFD has raised $19,672 towards the
project.  Construction is scheduled to start in Spring of
2008.  We would like to thank the community for the
generous donations!

The Silver City Volunteer Fire Department is entering its
46th year.  It has a long
history and it remains the only
fire department in Pennington County which does not
impose a tax levy and is supported solely by donations
of its residents and supporters within the community.
The department’s mission is to protect the community of Silver
City and the surrounding area from wild land and structure fires.
The department is formed by volunteer citizens. It protects 150
homes and an area of  42 square miles.
