Fire Department
SCVFD NEWS
The 2008 fire season is now over and thankfully it was pretty quiet.
The department had a total of eight
incidents for the year, half as
many as in 2007.  Thanks to the wet spring and the cooler
temperatures, the fire activity was  greatly reduced in 2008.

On other news, the department has finalized plans for an
addition
t
o the fire station.  Through a community fund-raiser, the SCVFD
has raised $26,000 towards the project.  Construction is scheduled
to continue through the spring of 2009.  We would like to thank the
community for the generous donations!

The Silver City Volunteer Fire Department is entering its 47th year.
It has a long
history and it remains the only fire department in
Pennington County which does not impose a tax levy and is
supported solely by donations of its residents and supporters within
the community.
The department’s mission is to protect the community of Silver
City and the surrounding area from wild land and structure fires.
The department is formed by volunteer citizens. It protects 150
homes and an area of  42 square miles.
