In 2009 the department had a total of seven incidents for the year,
one less than in 2008.

On other news, the department has finalized plans for an
addition
t
o the fire station.  Through a community fund-raiser, the SCVFD
has raised $26,000 towards the project.  Construction is scheduled
to continue through the spring of 2010.  We would like to thank the
community for the generous donations!

The Silver City Volunteer Fire Department is entering its 48th year.
It has a long
history and it remains the only fire department in
Pennington County which does not impose a tax levy and is
supported solely by donations of its residents and supporters within
the community.
The department’s mission is to protect the community of Silver City
and the surrounding area from wild land and structure fires.  The
department is formed by volunteer citizens. It protects 150 homes
and an area of  42 square miles.
